"Why did you get your tattoo?" -said by everyone who has seen it.
So what is my story? Let me explain...
Why? I've always wanted one but I never wanted to get it without my mother's permission. Obviously being the rebellious child that I am, I did it behind her back. In my mind I wanted the tattoo. I wanted to be able to get something meaningful to me on my body, because after all it is my life and my body. I can choose how I want to live my life and I realize that I disrespected my mom but I want to be able to make my own decisions.
Who? I got the same arrow tattoo as my best friend, Natalie. We both decided to get it together because it was meaningful to the both of us.
Where? The tattoo is placed on my left, upper rib and is easily covered by anything that I wear so that if I want to show my tattoo to someone, it will be because I want to.
What? The meaning behind the arrow is quite simple. An arrow can be shot only by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it’s going to launch you into something great. The reason that I got it with Natalie is because we both were moving forward from high school to college. It also means "on to the next chapter" with good vibes and positive thoughts.
How? Well it hurt. I definitely prepared myself because when I started getting tatted, the pain wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It took three minutes. I put the song "Let's Get Lost" on by G-Eazy and just as the song ended, my tattoo was completed.
I don't and will never regret my tattoo. I'm really happy that I have such an important symbol on my body that tells the people I care about something about me. I truly believe that your body is your history.
